Additional procedures may be implemented that are specific to each individual facility, inventory type and location.
Blumberg Grain regularly consults with the Kansas State University Department of Agriculture/Post Harvest Protection to review and update its systems and procedures to ensure the use of the latest information and management techniques available.

Access Control
Blumberg Grain Storage units can be outfitted with the latest access control equipment to monitor the movement in and out of the units. Additionally, CCTV cameras and recorders can allow the facility to be monitored remotely and maintain a permanent record for future viewing.
Temperature and humidity control
To maximize storage life, grain must be stored in an environmentally controlled atmosphere. Proper temperature & humidity controls prevent mold, rot, pests, sprouting and insects. The Aeration is used to maintain the quality of the inventory. The amount and type of aeration depends on the requirements of each particular grain. Aeration can be natural ventilation through the use of louvers and vents or forced ventilation through the use of electric fans.
Blumberg Grain can apply automated environmental controls that can carry out routine measurements automatically. Highly accurate sensors read ambient air humidity and temperature at various locations in the storage unit and control the air flow based on a preset goal for moisture level of the grain.
Real Time automated grain storage monitoring/data management make it possible to gather and analyze your facility conditions and detect and correct problems early on to maintain the quality of the inventory to maximize market value.
With a PC-Based Monitoring and Control Systems you can control and monitor all environmental aspects of the facility and have the data relayed anywhere via network or internet.
Insect Control
Frequent monitoring of grain storage conditions to identify possible problems associated with storage moisture and temperature and pest infestation is important. An integrated pest control management program to control grain insects and other pests will be developed and implemented specific to each location. Pest control strategies will be undertaken to ensure the highest quality and longevity of the inventory.
Preventive Maintenance
A detailed Preventive Maintenance system is developed particular to each facility and is carried out by our trained service personnel to ensure the buildings are proactively maintained to the highest standards for longevity, to reduce instances occupational safety hazards and to assure the quality of the inventory by maintaining the unit and ensuring it is proofed against weather, humidity, vermin and theft.
Record Keeping
Blumberg Grain will maintain accurate record keeping of all aspects of the grain management program including temperature and humidity, inventory, movement, pest management, occupational safety requirements and access and egress.

Grain Management Software offers grain storage facilities a fully automated solution to inventory control and accounting. The program gives grain storage managers accurate real-time information on their present position.
The modular program is fully Windows® compatible, and covers Contract Management, Ticket Entry & Inventory, Order Entry/Purchasing, Crop Management, and Point of Sale. Additional modules will allow the system to interface with electronic scales and moisture meters, and Financial Accounting (A/R, A/P, and GL) and Payroll.
This System can operate as a multi-user Client Server system if a Local Area Network is installed.
Due to its Modular Design it can be easily customized to suit almost any need.
